THE IMPLICATIONS OF EACH

FOR OUR AMERICAN SOCIAL, LEGAL & POLITICAL ORDER

THE IN-DEPTH SYLLABUS

I

INTRODUCTION

The assassination of President John F. Kennedy3 in Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas, at 12:30PM CST on November 22nd of 1963 stands as one of the watershed events in the consciousness of the American people. It is especially central to the consciousness of members of the largest and the arguably most-idealistic generation of Americans: the Baby Boomer Generation, the members of which, at that time, were just entering upon their adulthood and were attempting to understand and become participants in the social, legal and political order that taught them that our American constitutional democracy was distinguished from other nations in history whose leadership and public policies had been determined through violence and the force of arms.

Since that tragic day, there have been over 600 books published on the Kennedy assassination.”4 And multiple official “government reports” followed numerous investigations that were conducted into the assassination and associated circumstances and individuals.

These 600 books (the number of which is still growing) and official investigations, committees, and review boards (the latest one of which was the ARRB5 in 1998) have resulted in an entire spectrum of theories that have arisen in our land as to exactly what happened that day and who, exactly, was responsible for that terrible event.

Cowell 103 will explore, in detail, The Ten Principal Theories of “The Crime of The Century” and will present the strengths and points of vulnerability of each of these.

The purpose of this course is NOT to “advocate” any one specific theory but, instead, to familiarize a new generation of Americans with the specifics of each such major theory and to allow each student to evaluate the comparative strengths and weaknesses of each….thereby allowing each student to come to her or his own best judgment as to what they believe happened on that dreadful day – and why.

It will be taught in SOCIAL SCIENCES 2, Room 71. Each week of instruction will consist of two “Plenary Sessions” of 100 minutes each, one on Tuesday afternoon and one on Thursday afternoon, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. And there will be one obligatory Section Meeting & Discussion each week, on Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., in Social Science 2, Room 71. This class will likely be attended by many community members.

The Instructor of this course will be Harvard College, Harvard Law School and Harvard Divinity School-trained American Trial Attorney Daniel Peter Sheehan, the previous Visiting Instructor of the U.C.S.C. 2012 Spring Quarter Course entitled: “Eight Cases That Changed America.” Attorney Sheehan is also the former Caesar Chavez Visiting Lecturer at U.C. Santa Barbara where he taught the Course entitled: “The Hidden History of America: The History of the Covert Operations of the United States C.I.A. from World War II to the Present”, and he is also the former Constitutional Law Instructor at Antioch School of Law in Washington, D.C.

Each student is expressly authorized to petition her or his Department Head to take this course for full credit toward the meeting of the requirements of her or his major in the fields of: Politics; Legal Studies; History and Sociology. The maximum number of Undergraduate Students who will be officially-enrolled for credit in this 5credit Course will be 50. Preference will be given to Seniors and Juniors from Cowell College who are majoring in one of the above-identified four fields of study. However enrollment is open to ALL undergraduate students.

Thirdly, up to 50 adult citizens of Santa Cruz who are officially enrolled in the Life-Long Learning Program at U.C.S.C. will be allowed to “audit” this course, thereby “maxing out” the physical capacity of Room 71 in Social Sciences 2. This Course will be conducted in the same manner as a “Senior Thesis Seminar.” Since other Instructors at UCSC might wish to attend these Sessions…and local and regional political office-holders may also wish to attend these Sessions … such adult Auditors may be available to serve as “Thesis Advisors” to one or more of the Officially-Enrolled Students in the course in the preparation of his or her “Thesis.” The first of the twenty-one 100-minute “Plenary Sessions” (to be convened on Thursday, September 26th) will be devoted exclusively to Administrative Matters pertaining to the Course (since many of the students who will ultimately register for the course may not be present for this First Session because they may be “prospecting” other courses on September 26th.) The substantive Presentation of the course will, therefore, begin on Tuesday, October 1st. That Plenary Session

will be devoted to the subject of: “The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy In Historical Perspective:

Its Place in American & World History.” In our second substantive Plenary Session (to be convened on Thursday, October 3rd, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) Attorney Sheehan will identify and discuss the varying standards that differing professions bring to the task of attempting to determine “The Facts” pertaining to ANY EVENT – and how and why each person’s perception of “historical events” which raise “public policy questions” are “colored” by each person’s “Worldview.” Our First “Section Meeting” (discussion session) will be on Thursday, October 3rd, between 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m., and will be devoted to a discussion solely of the issues raised and addressed in the two previous Plenary Sessions that week.

2   Our third substantive Plenary Session (to be convened on Tuesday, October 8th, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be devoted to: “The Events of The Weekend of November 22nd, 1963 – As They Were Experienced by the American People…and the World…AND Attorney Sheehan’s Presentation of The Dallas Police Department’s Immediate Determination & the Immediate F.B.I. Determination that Lee Harvey Oswald Assassinated President Kennedy acting as “THE LONE GUNMAN.” This will be an “Advocate’s Presentation.” Our fourth substantive Plenary Session (on Thursday, October 10th, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be devoted to an Advocate’s Presentation, by Attorney Sheehan, of THE WARREN COMMISSION REPORT – “THE MAGIC BULLET” THEORY – SUPPORTING “THE LONE GUNMAN THEORY” OF THE F.B.I.

The Second “Section Meeting” (discussion session) will be on Thursday, October 10th, from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

and will be devoted solely to a discussion of THE STRENGTHS of “The Lone Gunman Theory” – as presented by: The Dallas Police Department, The F.B.I. and The Warren Commission (and their Supporters.) The fifth substantive Plenary Session (on Tuesday, October 15th, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be a presentation by Attorney Sheehan of: “The Readily-Apparent FACTS that ‘Challenge’ The Lone Gunman Theory, as it was presented by The Dallas Police Department, The F.B.I., The Warren Commission – and Other Supporters of “The Lone Gunman Theory of The Crime.” The sixth substantive Plenary Session (on Thursday, October 17th, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be a Presentation by Attorney Sheehan of: “The LATER-Disclosed VERIFIED FACTS that further ‘Challenge’ The Lone Gunman Theory of The Crime. This again will be an “Advocate’s Presentation.” The Third “Section Meeting” (discussion session) will be on Thursday, October 17th, from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

and will be devoted solely to THE STRENGTHS of The CHALLENGES to “The Lone Gunman Theory” – as it was presented by: The Dallas Police Department, The F.B.I. and The Warren Commission (and their Supporters.) (i.e. NOT yet entertaining any Affirmative “Alternative Theory of The Crime.”) The seventh substantive Plenary Session (on Tuesday, October 22nd, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be a Presentation by Attorney Sheehan of: The NOW IN-Disputable FACTS Pertaining to The Assassination of President Kennedy.

The eighth substantive Plenary Session (on Thursday, October 24th, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be a Presentation by Attorney Sheehan of: “The STILL-‘CONTROVERSIAL’ – BUT “HIGHLY-PROBABLE” –

FACTS That AFFIRMATIVELY SUGGEST THAT THERE DOES INDEED EXIST AN ‘ALTERNATIVE

AFFIRMATIVE EXPLANATION OF THE CRIME.” This again will be an “Advocate’s Presentation.” The Fourth “Section Meeting” (discussion session) will be on Thursday, October 24th, from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

and will be devoted solely to: (A) The Now In-Disputable FACTS Concerning The Assassination; (B) The StillControversial – BUT HIGHLY-PROBABLE - Facts – Suggesting an AFFIRMATIVE “Alternative Theory of The Crime” – AND A “CRITIQUE” OF ATTORNEY SHEEHAN’S ARGUMENT THAT THE PRESENTLYAVAILABLE FACTS MAKE AN “ALTERNATIVE” EXPLANATION OF THE CRIME – HIGHLYPROBABLE.” The ninth substantive Plenary Session (on Tuesday, October 29th, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be a Presentation by Attorney Sheehan of: “The Presently LEADING ‘Probable’ Alternative Explanation of The Assassination: THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES’ 1979 FINAL REPORT ON THE ASSASSINATION OF PRESIDENT KENNEDY concluding that: “It is more probable than not that President Kennedy was in fact

assassinated pursuant to a conspiracy – and that, it is probable that the participants in this conspiracy were:

‘a certain element of Miami-based anti-Castro Cuban Exiles’ AND ‘a certain element of Organized Crime.’ This again will be an “Advocate’s Presentation.”   3   The tenth substantive Plenary Session (on Thursday, October 31st, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) will be devoted to a Presentation by Attorney Sheehan of: “The Confession of Havana Mafia Don Santos Trafficante – to His ‘Mob Lawyer’, Frank Ragano, in 1987, that it was Havana Crime Boss Santos Trafficante and New Orleans Crime Boss Carlos Marcello who initiated and orchestrated The Assassination of President Kennedy (a theory that had been proffered by House Select Committee on Assassinations Chief Counsel G. Robert Blakey six years earlier in 1981 in his book entitled: The Plot to Kill The President. This again will be an “Advocate’s Presentation.” The Fifth “Section Meeting” (discussion session) will be held on Thursday, October 31st, from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and will be confined solely to a discussion of the STRENGTH of the: “THE MOB DID IT” Theory of The Crime – as it was asserted by Frank Ragano and G. Robert Blakey in their respective books (and any other books in which this Thesis has been proffered.) The eleventh substantive Plenary Session (on Tuesday, November 5th, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be a Presentation, by Attorney Sheehan, of: “NEW ORLEANS DISTRICT ATTORNEY JIM GARRISON’S THEORY OF THE CRIME: ON THE TRAIL OF THE ASSASSINS (1988) and HERITAGE OF STONE (1970)…as well as OLIVER STONE’S 1991 Feature Film: “JFK.” Attorney Sheehan will undertake to present Jim Garrison’s Theory in as clear and as supportive a manner as possible (“A Cabal of ‘Motive-Garbled’ RightWing, Thrill-Seeking, Vaguely-C.I.A.-Affiliated/Vaguely-Mafia-Affiliated, Homo-Sexuals DID IT” Theory ….and then explain Oliver Stone’s “overlay” by means of which Stone “supplemented” (i.e. “clarified”) Garrison’s Theory by “feathering into” Garrison’s evidence information from Jim Marr’s 1989 best-selling book entitled: CROSS-FIRE: The Plot that Killed Kennedy (“THE JOINT MILITARY CHIEFS OF STAFF DID IT” – “The Seven Days In May” Theory of The Crime;) The twelfth substantive Plenary Session (on Thursday, November 7th, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be a Presentation by Attorney Sheehan of: “THE TORBITT DOCUMENT THEORY OF THE CRIME: L.B.J. & F.B.I. DIRECTOR J. EDGAR HOOVER & “DIVISION FIVE” OF THE F.B.I. DID IT” This again will be an “Advocate’s Presentation.” The Sixth “Section Meeting” (discussion session) will be held on Thursday, October Nov. 7th, from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. and will be confined solely to a discussion of the STRENGTH of the: JIM GARRISON’s & THE

TORBITT DOCUMENT’s THEORIES OF THE CRIME.

The thirteenth substantive Plenary Session (on Tuesday, November 12th, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be a Presentation by Attorney Sheehan of: “The ‘S-Force’ Did It” Theory of The Crime presented by Santos Trafficante to F. Lee Bailey’s Office in May of 1973 – three years before The House Select Committee on Assassinations was even created – and 18 years before Frank Ragano asserted, in his 1991 book, that Trafficante “confessed” to having “masterminded” The Assassination. This again will be an “Advocate’s Presentation.” The fourteenth substantive Plenary Session (on Thursday, November 14th, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.) will be a Presentation by Attorney Sheehan of: “THE CUBAN ‘BACKFIRE’ THESIS” proffered by “a certain element” WITHIN THE C.I.A. – and espoused TO Columnist Jack Anderson by Mafia Associate JOHNNY ROSELLI, “jacking up” RFK’s & JFK’s “AMTRUNK PROJECT” (The JFK/RFK-endorsed, ALMEIDA-centered “Cuba Uprising” Plan code-named “SYNCLINE OPALS 312 & 316”) into a false claim that it entailed an ASSASSINATION PLAN by JFK & RFK against Castro – which “backfired” when Castro “discovered” it – and then “retaliated” against JFK by having Lee Harvey Oswald (a pro-Castro “Communist”) Assassinate JFK;
