Club Snapshot The Eastlake Demons were originally formed in 1926 and were very successful from the beginning winning their first premiership after just two years in the competition. Eastlake enjoy a large amount of success during the 60’s when they had a rare undefeated season before going on to win five Premierships straight between 1962-66.

In 1991 Eastlake formed with the Manuka Football Club to become the Southern District Demons.

After six seasons it was decided that the club would once again undergo a change becoming the Eastlake Demons and donning the tradition Black and Red jersey worn by Manuka. The new Eastlake Demons won their first premiership in 2001 when they defeated Belconnen by 3 points.

Today, the Club successfully operates three Licensed Clubs with the home Club in Griffith supported by the Calwell Club and Kaleen Sports Club.

1st Grade Premiers: 1928, 1933, 1934, 1937, 1942, 1945, 1948, 1957, 1960, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1972, 1976, 1978 and 2001 Club Champions: 1964, 1968 and 1971 Coach – Anthony Bourke Email: coach@eastlakefc.com.au Anthony Bourke has been newly appointed Senior Coach of the Eastlake Football Club for the 2012 season.

Bourke was part of the 2001 Eastlake Premiership team before heading to Western Australia to play in the WAFL with East Fremantle and he also spent one year with South Fremantle. In recent years, Bourke has held assistant coaching roles with Ainslie Football Club. He has certainly learned his trade at one of Canberra’s leading Clubs and is looking forward to the challenge of returning Eastlake to the forefront of AFL in the expanding NEAFL.

Bourke and his coaching team have brought a new set of ideas to the Club and there is a distinctly different approach to 2012. The Club is building on a very solid pre season program and transitioning well into the preparation for the season proper.

The existing playing list, combined with some fresh faces, has given Bourke a talented group to work with. Bourke’s understanding of the contemporary game, combined with the playing list at his discretion should see Eastlake take its game to a new level in 2012.

2011 Club Awards

4. Aaron Bruce – Bruce won the Clubs 2011 Best and Fairest and has team success clearly on his mind in 2012. His application to preseason training and helping develop the young players at the Club is showing signs of Aaron’s maturity as a leader.

19. Hayden Armstrong – A revelation in 2011 and he is only going to be better in 2012. Tall, fast and capable of taking spectacular marks, Armstrong has learnt a lot from his maiden year in the NEAFL.

Having been on the radar of AFL Clubs, Armstrong is going to be one to watch for his exciting play and how much he will improve on his impressive start to Senior Football.
