Dear Parish Family,

THE PARISH! Today we honor our Blessed Mother Mary with our May Crowning at 10:30 AM Mass.

Joining in the celebration are our new First Communicants and our parish Legion of Mary. All are welcome to bring a vase of fresh flowers (or a vase will be provided) from your yard/garden to Our Lady of Grace, of the Miraculous Medal shrine throughout the month of May. Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us!

This Mother’s Day weekend, May 11 and 12, we will be accepting donations in exchange for beautiful carnations to benefit Birthright. Please support our pro -life mission. Since 1980, Birthright has helped thousands of pregnant women avoid abortion and choose Life! Thank you.

Come Holy Spirit! Next Sunday May 19 is Pentecost Sunday, the “birth” of the Church empowered by the Holy Spirit and the final celebration of the Easter Season. To celebrate, we would like to continue our parish tradition to GO RED. Will you help? You are welcome to WEAR something Red (May 18 and 19) to Mass on Pentecost Sunday! I will select new members for our Parish Pastoral Council at the Pentecost Vigil Mass.

Adult Faith Education Class at PJ’s - I am pleased to announce our Evangelization and Education Committee has planned a “special event” for May, based on the successful “Theology on Tap” classes for young adults. We will hold a session at 6:00 PM THIS TUESDAY May 14 in the Irish Room of PJ’s Tavern! You are welcome to order your own snacks or dinner! ALL AGES ARE WELCOME!!!

We will view Fr. Barron’s DVD Catholicism Series presentation on Mary, Mother of God. Following the presentation, I will lead a discussion on the revelation of God in Christ, and Mary’ s role as Mother of God, the Church’s teachings on the Immaculate Conception and the dogma of the Assumption. Have you been looking for a way to study your faith? Join in this night of good food and faith formation!

Finance Committee Meeting: A meeting of the Finance Committee will be held next Sunday, May 19, at 6:30 PM in the Rectory.

New Altar Server Training - will continue to be held Sundays May 19, 26, June 2, 9, 16 and 23 in church at 9:30 AM. Our new Servers will be installed / blessed on Tuesday June 25 at 7 PM Mass during our annual 40 Hours Eucharistic Days. Celebrant/homilist for our 40 Hours Eucharistic Devotions will be Father Sean Sheridan, TOR, a native son of our parish and the newly appointed President of Franciscan University of Steubenville! More to come….

CONGRATULATIONS Our 2013 Annual Catholic Appeal goal has been met!!!!

Now let us work on our goal to update our air- conditioning! As a sign of support for our parish, I ask for 100% participation of all adults, families and households through a gift to the 2013 Appeal. “A gift to the 2013 Annual Appeal is a gift for our parish…a gift for our parish is a gift to the 2013 Annual Appeal.” I ask those families and individuals, the 60% who have never given in the past, to join in helping reach our goal. I hope that many will make their pledge early, so that we can meet our goal before the end of the fiscal year this summer. We are in difficult economic times, and many people rightfully cannot support the mission of the Church in the way they would like. But there is a difference between a small gift and no gift.

Disinterest and doing nothing to build up our parish and Diocese is not a good option. Humbly offering what we can, even when it must be small, is a sign of faith. THANK YOU TO OUR FOLLOWING PARISH
