Whilst large, the Handbook may be approached through its Sections so that aspects of Governance at Neath Port Talbot College may be studied on a modular basis.

The Governors of Neath Port Talbot College have been involved in the strategic consultation undertaken to examine and redefine the mission of the College over the next five years. Here, the mission is set out, the vision that will guide the journey and the values to be respected every step of the way to ensure that Neath Port Talbot College provides the community with More Than Just an Education.

EDUCATION:

Having left Lewis Boys’ Grammar School, Pengam at 16 years of age, Mark Dacey progressed via Ystrad Mynach, Pontypridd and Bridgend Colleges of Further Education, through a series of City & Guilds and BTEC National and Higher National Certificates in Construction.

In addition to a Certificate in Education, he holds a BSc Degree in Building from the Polytechnic of Wales, an MSc Degree in Facilities Management from the University of Strathclyde and a Diploma in Building Surveying from the College of Estates Management. He also holds extensive professional qualifications in Building, Surveying, Health & Safety and Law.

EMPLOYMENT:

Formerly one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors for Education and Training working for Estyn (the Office of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector in Wales), prior to being appointed Principal on 01.05.05.

Aled Evans attended Llanelli Boys’ Grammar School where he attained GCSEs and ‘A’ Levels prior to gaining a BA Honours Degree in Welsh from Bangor University. He gained a PGCE from the same university.

EMPLOYMENT:

The former Headteacher of two primary schools at Cenarth and Brynsaron in Llangeler, Aled Evans was appointed as the Head of Schools, Education Development & Inclusion Service of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council in July 2006.

He is one of two Local Government Members, drawn from the elected Members and senior officers of the Directorate of Education, Leisure & Lifelong Learning. Aled represents the latter grouping.

He obtained his PGCE at the University of Kent.

EMPLOYMENT Christopher gained 14 years of teaching in comprehensive schools prior to joining Neath Port Talbot College. In his 20 years with the College, in addition to lecturing duties, he has acted as a Course Co-ordinator, Higher Education Co-ordinator and Entrepreneurship Champion.

In addition, Donna Mead is a Member of the Medical Research Council’s College of Experts, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and a Governor of the University of Glamorgan.
