What God Hath Joined Together
Let Not Man Put Asunder
By Dr. D. L. Cooper
At The 36th Annual DBS Conference
At Bible Baptist Church In Marietta, Georgia
The Word of God is clear in Matthew 19:1-6. The passage unmistakably deals with marriage as
God's plan for man to maintain purity within society. However, the institution of marriage is under
great attack today by the Devil. Men are redefining its meaning. The failure to maintain the Biblical
mandate of what constitutes a marriage has put our nation on the course of destruction morally, weakening the home, the church and our culture.
In this passage we have a commanding principle set forth that not only deals with the individual marriage, but also with the institution of marriage as a whole. By redefining marriage, we destroy the concept of God’s joining one man and one woman. In its place, we are left with society promoting "man putting asunder" what God intended to be inseparably joined.
Lawmakers and special interest groups, by "putting asunder what God hath joined", have launched a ship of debauchery whose destination is ultimately the "City of Destruction" for our culture. They are tearing apart the institution of marriage. Marriage, however, is not the only area in which God has joined certain things together that will bring eternal consequences if tampered with and "put asunder."
In creation the Almighty has joined many things that follow this same principle of "What God therefore hath joined together, let not man put asunder". These areas – if changed, manipulated or tampered with – will, with that imbalance, bring trouble, destruction and death for our society and our culture.
The members of the human body (as seen in our Wounded Warriors).
Water – Hydrogen & Oxygen – Separating these elements will produce extremely volatile 2.
and explosive gases.
These principles holds true in all areas of life!
I would like to look at some areas spiritually that "God hath joined together." If "man puts them asunder," they will culminate in bringing havoc on society in general and the local Church in particular.
It is easy to see the problems caused within Christianity and the Church by the plethora of new Bible versions being produced today.
2 What God Hath Joined Together By Dr. D. L. Cooper These versions of the Scripture are succeeding in lining the pockets of the publishers while destroying the faith and godly standards of both young and old alike within the Church.
In each version we witness the manifestation of hatred for God, the Book and the doctrines He has joined together. These new versions, while being advertised to bring the reader closer to God, are systematically dismantling and destroying the doctrine of the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Word of God that is preserved for us in the King James Bible, threatening the eternal destiny of the souls of men.
It is important to understand where Satan is working to "put asunder" that which God has joined together and how he uses the critical text and the perverters of Scripture to destroy the Word of God, corrupt a culture, and fracture the Church that God purchased with His own blood (Acts 20:28).
Let us look at some areas God has inseparably joined together that must never be separated nor "put asunder".
I. The Scripture to Its Authority Proponents of the Critical Text begin putting asunder the Scripture from its authority by challenging the Scripture's verbal, plenary inspiration and its providential preservation.
The Word of God declares of itself: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
• for doctrine - First Steps
• for reproof - False Steps
• for correction - Faltering Steps
• for instruction in righteousness - Forward steps 2 Peter 1:19-21 "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."
Matthew 7:28-29 28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
“What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder!” II. The Saviour to His Deity
God worship him. ?7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. ?8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
God, the Father Himself, declares the deity of Christ when He calls Him God (cf. Colossians 1:15-17)!
Having separated the Scripture from its authority, the textual critic naturally continues by tearing apart the doctrine of the deity of Christ through the denial of the attributes and character afforded only to our Sovereign Lord.
This separation, of Christ from His Deity and other vital doctrines of the Word of God, is achieved by what the textual critics call Dynamic Equivalence, which is simply not taking God's Word as it is written. By their "adding to" or "taking away" words, phrases and sometimes complete passages, they alter God’s Word and, thereby, either deny or weaken the deity of Christ as given in our King James Bible.
Such actions by Bible correctors and textual critics are nothing more than a blatant disregard for and disobedience to the plain command and warning of the Scripture itself as shown by the following
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add
unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
The Devil always wants to separate the Saviour from His Deity, thereby removing Christ as the object of our worship.
“What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder!” III. Salvation to the Blood of Christ (See 1Peter 1:18-23) By either omitting references to the Blood of Christ or changing reference to read the death of Christ, critical text proponents are demeaning the Blood of Christ and are "putting asunder" what God hath inseparably joined together.
4 What God Hath Joined Together By Dr. D. L. Cooper The Word of God calls the blood of Christ "precious" (1 Peter 1:18-23). Leviticus 17:11 says, "... for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.
Speaking of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Word of God (the King James Bible) states, "Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature" (Colossians 1:13-15).
Omitting or changing the blood of Christ removes the source of God's redemption, exposes the modernist and liberals who hate the doctrine of salvation through the blood and gives credence to those who, through the years, have despised and attacked that "precious... saving blood,... through which God purchased the Church" (See Acts 20:17-28).
"What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder"!
IV. Sanctity to Life (See Genesis 9:5-6) As America's largest performer of abortions, Planned Parenthood, in 2012, reported a record number of murders of the unborn.
Their report flaunts a single year’s total of 333,964 abortions, pushing Planned Parenthood's three year total to almost one million.
In 2008, approximately 1.21 million babies were reported in the US, down from 1.29 million in 2002, 1.31 million in 2000, and 1.36 million in 1996. From "Roe vs Wade" in 1973 through 2014, over 60 million unborn babies were aborted legally in the US.
In our own city of Marietta, GA, we are waiting to hear the outcome of the trial of a father who left his 22 month old son strapped in his car-seat, in the family car, for seven hours while he was at work.
The temperature outside the car that day was nearly 90 degrees. The medical examiner said that "the child died a horrible death."
According to local Fox News, reports, the father claims he forgot the child was in the car. All the while, at his place of employment, he was "sexting" with at least three females and taking time to go to lunch with two fellow employees. All of this while his precious little boy was roasting to death in the closed automobile.
These are the examples of the kind of things that take place when "man puts asunder" what God has joined together and separates life from its sanctity!
"What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder."!
1 Corinthians 15:45 ?And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. ?
In reading the Biblical account of King Saul's jealousy and hatred for David, one finds David’s own statement picturing the immortality of the soul. At any moment, by making the wrong step, Saul's henchmen could end David's life on earth; yet, David reveals that the soul of man ever lives.
1 Samuel 20:3 ?And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.
The Jehovah's False Witnesses and others deny immorality and the existence of the human soul. Of course, they use perverted writings to make their case. Some of the different versions of Scripture follow suit in making the same subtle assertions. All of this is done, they say, to bring the reader greater clarity and understanding of Scripture; but, it is actually tearing asunder what God hath joined together.
"What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder!" VI. Sin to its Abomination We have come to the time when relativism rules in every aspect of life. Relativism is defined by Merriam - Webster as, "A view that ethical truths depend upon the individuals and groups holding them." Nothing could be more evident of this mentality than the view held by the sexual deviates that are trying to impose cultural changes on our society, contrary to the Word of God.
Looking at the Book of Leviticus, Chapter 18, we see one of the numerous places where God has set down His plan for moral and sexual purity. We see here that God would never accept the moral standards of Egypt or the Canaanites. Israel was given specific instructions not to follow them.
Twenty-one times in Leviticus 18-19, the phrase, "I and the Lord" or "I am your God" appears.
The Hebrews were to obey and to follow God's laws.
Unfortunately, some of the critical text versions destroy through their rewriting of the laws God has set down regarding sin and moral purity. They erase the fact that sin is an abomination to the Almighty. The tearing asunder of sin from abomination is seen when self-confessed lesbians and progay members of the translation committees are allowed to propagate and promote homosexuality as normal and acceptable.
This "putting asunder what God hath joined together" is evidenced in Old Testament passages where either the words "sodomite" or sodomites" (KJB) are replaced by "shrine prostitutes" or "male shrine prostitutes" (NIV) [Deuteronomy 23:17; I Kings 14:24; 15:12; 22:46; 2 Kings 23:7].
Or the words are replaced by "sacred prostitutes," as in The Message; or "cult prostitutes," as in the RSV, ESV and NASB; or "temple prostitutes," as in The New Century version.
This manipulation of God's Word gives justification to a deviate lifestyle and attempts to produce a version of scripture that is acceptable to the pro-gay and sodomite community.
"What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder!" 6 What God Hath Joined Together By Dr. D. L. Cooper It is the purity of our verbally, plenary inspired text that is providentially preserved in our King James Bible that articulates God's standard for maintaining the moral purity of the Church in particular and of our society in general.
Once this moral guideline is marred, not only does a culture become more and more depraved and corrupt, but the Church and the people of God lose their thirst for God.
This is what happens when man "puts asunder what God has inseparably joined together!
Spurgeon declared that while human authors were the instruments who recorded the Scriptures,
they were not the true Author. He then asserted the following:
This volume is the writing of the living God; each letter was penned with an Almighty finger; each word in it dropped from the everlasting lips; each sentence was dictated by the Holy Spirit.
Albeit, that Moses was employed to write his histories with fiery pen, God guided that pen. It may be that David touched his harp, and let sweet Psalms of melody drop from his fingers; but God moved his hands over the living strings of his golden harp.
It may be that Solomon sang canticles of love, or gave forth words of consummate wisdom, but God directed his lips, and made the preacher eloquent.
